Gosh this is hard
SO I am in college. But it is hard. I started off as a freshmen on a rough road... transitioning into it and what not. Then my down hill began to start coming up-hill. I was feeling ok about this whole college aspect and began passing classes with decent grades. Then the thought of having a major surgery came into play, I was a nervous wreck for a whole semester and classes were not in my favor. SO I have entered this fall semester with a "pumped" attitude wanting to try my best. Got the results of my first test back. Still below where I want to be, but I am not testing at the LOW end of the group anymore... mostly in the average group. Do I have to be that A student to graduate? If I do, I have a LONG ways to go. Am I the only student that struggles? I am frustrated because I am in my 3rd year and things are TOUGH! I guess college is just rough. I have set me a goal, from the rough turnout of last spring semester to just get B's and C's this fall. SO far I am a little discouraged but I have to remember, Its only the first tests, I have 2 more + the finals to improve on and get POINTS!!!!

Dear Gene
Its been exactly one month yesterday that you came out. I don't know how I feel. Doc says your aftermath (aka the scar) is healing nicely. The doctor also commanded me to get a blood test done to see how my hormone levels are since I have been on the medication. It turns out, you were alot stronger than i thought, My levels are LOW! So what happens now? YOu caused us to pay more money to buy MORE medication of a stronger dosage. And how do I know that you aren't causing other things to happen to my body. With the low hormone levels, is that the root cause of dizzy spells? I have also discovered some sort of rash on my legs since about the surgery date, is that caused by you making me stay in the hospital with air-bags and nylon socks on my legs? Why did you have to go Gene? You were functioning fine. You were just a big boy. WHo cares if i had a big neck, at least my hormones were fine. Thanks alot gene-- thanks alot.

Disneyland/Beach/UCLA
So this past week me and my family actually went on a family vacation. It was AMAZING!!! And sooooo nice to be away from that dumb pool once again. I have missed alot already due to my surgery, but this was a fun excuse. We spent the week in California mainly in Disneyland, with a day off to the beach and a tour of the UCLA university. (thanks to Aunt Judy starting us on this, me and my sisters like to tour Universities and get a sweet tee-shirt). It was a fun week. We have not been to Disneyland since 2003 so I guess you can say it has been a while. Nothing has really changed, the castle seems smaller but it was still magical. :) We spent most of our time in Disneyland. It was awesome- we had to have set the record for going on Pirates the most! My mom has the whole ride memorized. Our family favorite rides in Disneyland were Pirates and Indiana Jones. They were soooo cool. We love splash mountain but we just got soooooo wet on it this time we were miserable. I still wonder why Peter Pan ride is sooo popular. Space Mountain is awesome.
Half way through the week we took a tour up the coast of Calfiornia. Along the famous Highway 1 or Pacific Coast Highway. It was way pretty. We got lost for 3 and a half hours but eventually found our way back to the highway. We worked our way up to the Beverly Hills to visit the famous UCLA University. It was BEAUTIFUL!!! I could almost compare it to the U on how pretty it was. But I still love the U the most. Anyways, we found their bookstore and bought a sweet shirt. We also happen to be there the week that the famous John Wooden past away. For those of you who don't know, he was very famous, won UCLA like 8-10 consecutive National Championships, and also taught his players character and created the pyramid to success. They had a neat memorial for him. It was awesome.

We also visited the famous Santa Monica pier. It was neat, but too many people and kinda a ghetto beach. It was fun because you don't always get to go to the beach but I thought Huntington was prettier (from the car window). Anyways, it was a cool pier. We stalked the beach lifeguards, and Lauren and I almost got sucked out to sea in a wave.
So overall it was an awesome. I think my parents are grateful that they have big kids with jobs to afford a plane ticket. We flew and it was fun. That Los Angles Airport was huge!!! And we tried to see a movie star but no luck-- we flew where normal people fly and not this first class business.
t was a good week, now back to reality and working!!! Here are just a few pics from the journey.

Finally America Got it Right!!!
SO, American Idol finished up tonight. My family and I have been watching for 7 years....
Back in season 2 when we heard about this "American Idol" from some crazy YW leaders. They were obsessed and Lauren and I made fun of them. Well in season 3 we tried watching it, and well, WE GOT HOOKED. WE didn't really have a favorite, but this person-- not the winner-- was incredible and now has an oscar as well as some other awards for her star in the movie Dream Girls
Season 4-- we of course are now hooked and are watching this season too. THis was Lauren's favorite season . Carrie Underwood was the winner of it and now is a HUGE country music star. She is good. Take a listen in one of her performances from the show where Simon said, "you will not only win this show but sell more records then any/all (can't remember) other winners combined"
Season 5 and Season 6 kind of lost their spunk for us. We watched, but weren't all thrilled. THeir winners were Jordan Sparks and Taylor Hicks who disappear off the face of the earth but make their appearence on the finale.
Season 7 was a different story. I LOVED season 7 probably because it had my boy, David Archuleta- LOVED HIM!! Been to all of his performances!! Idol tour, His personal tour, His Christmas Tour-- I have both of his CD's... well if you didn't watch the above performances, you need to watch this one because it is SOOOOOOOO good . He was not the winner, but I still love him. You have to fast forward a little to the actual performance
Isn't he good??? I love him.
Season 8-- For me and my mother, we were not happy with the winner Kris Allen. We are Adam Lambert fans and don't care what you all say. He was good! I couldn't find a video

It hurts Today
SO here I am over a week post operation now. Today was not a good day. It was nice to see some ward members and family but I think I over did it this weekend. The wound area is hurting a lot today. I don't know if it is just the skin around the scar that is waking up and not liking the feeling or what but it hurts and is bugging me alot today. I think I was too busy this weekend-- Working with the YW yesterday morning, movie last night, church today (I LOVED seeing the ward members and my primary kids), and a visit to the grandparents tonight. I think it was a little too much. I have been a good girl and not taking the pain killers all week. BUt tonight I feel apart physically and emotionally and needed to take one. So what is on the agenda? well here I am laying with ice on my neck? Tomorrow? RELAXATION!!!! And ice Ice ICE the neck.

1 Week Post Operation
So we are pretty much one week post operation tomorrow. I am doing pretty good. My energy is like a roller coaster-- I am full of energy, then I am dead tired. I am eating solid foods. I drove for the first time yesterday-- yahoo!! The only thing that is a little annoying today is the scar area. It is still ster-stripped shut but super tender. And the skin around it is still a little puffy and numb (weirdest feeling) but anyways.
I also wanted to say thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers and lovely treats. You are too kind and I am grateful for great friends and family
Well PEACE OUT!! Hopefully next update I will have tape off and can show you the whole scar.

So Long Gene!
So on Friday May, 14 Gene and I broke up FOREVER!!! It was a rough relationship. He was fat and taking up way to much space in my life. Ok ok, instead of making this into some complicated story, I am going to write about my experience
So we woke up at 5 am, my mom, dad, and I drove to the new Intermountain Riverton Hospital. We had to be there at 6:15 am. SO we got there right on time, we were seriously the 1rst people in the hospital. It was so quiet and scary. WE got all registered and checked in. Then sitting in the waiting area, some nurse came out and said "Who are you?" I said, "Natalie Stapley" He said, "I must have grabbed the wrong top secret paper because I am sure your not having your prostate operated on" (OK AWKWARD!! HE DIDN"T NEED TO TELL ME THAT! I WAS ALREADY A WRECK AS IT WAS) The nurse really said all that too. I Guess because I looked super onery that morning and he was trying to make light of the situation.
Here is a pic BEFORE Gene came out

But anyways, they took me back to this prep room and made me put this gown on. Then I sat on this bed and tried to relax. So then ths prep nurse came in and get me started on the IV. She had the hardest time finding my vein. She dug around in my wrist for a while... it got annoying. After a while, I started crying, I was a major emotional wreck. The surgeon came in to see how we were doing, My parents were fine and I was emotional. The part that was scaring me the most was anesthesia (or however the heck you spell that word). THe Anesthesiaologist (or however you spell the title of the guy that puts you too sleep) came in and I asked him questions, "will I wake up?" "will I breathe on my own" and he assured me I was going to be just fine. Then they started this drug on me that was making me kind of dizzy. Then from here I don't remember ANYTHING! I guess they took me in the operating room and I got on the table.
After all that, I woke up in the recovery room and with this cute little nurse staring at me waiting for me to come too. I think I asked her the same question 5 or 6 times, "how did I do?" " how did it go?" "when can I see my mom?" They kept me in the recovery room for like an hour and a half.... longer than usual, finding my room was a mess. Anyways, I finally made it to my room. THey got me going on pain killers like morphine, loratab, and oxygen. It was nice. The day nurses were kinda dumb but my night nurse was really cute and hyper and checked on me all night.
Anyways, everything went really well. I am home recovering. IT is sore, and my energy is quite low. I guess they compare this pain to strep throat but I have never had strep throat so to me it feels like a sore throat and a kinked neck.
Here is a after shot

St. George Ironman!!!!
So this weekend lauren and I and our boss/friend from work had the opportunity to go down to St George and be volunteer lifeguards for the Ironman Triathlon. Let me just start by saying, Ironman athletes are INSANE!!!! The whole race was a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, and a 26.2 run (Marathon). It was soooooo cool to be a part of. We got to see the start. The athletes looked like little fishes swimming through that lake.We left friday to drive down to St George. Stayed the night at a un-disclosed location. We had to wake up at 2:45 am!! We had to meet at a place at 3:30 am and then we had to be to the lake at 4am!!! Talk about an early morning. From there the lifeguards got situated. I started getting a little nervous when they were talking about , "if fatalities" , "if CPR situations" like it was a common thing. Talking to Lauren, she says it is a common thing if you are not prepared for the cold water. Luckily we didn't see anything that scary. There were about 2300 athletes from ALL over the world competing. They varied in age range from 18-77 years old. I did know two of the competitors. Anyways, we had a fun day!!! It was a really neat expirence to be a part of. Here are a few pics from the event.

This Sucks--
So I decided that this is my blog to vent on. THis semester is sooooooooo rough. I think the main cause of all this roughness is Gene. He is on my mind alllll day and I think he is the reason why some of my grades have not been so hot. In fact, there is a HIGH chance I will have to retake some classes all because of Gene!! I am so glad he is leaving me on the 12th. I just have to remind myself each and every day that college is not a race. I can take my time..... even if that means only taking one class a semester here and there.
There is light at the end of the tunnel. I will finish this semester with what ever grades I get. Get Gene out on the 12th. ANd then my family, believe it or not, is going on vacation the first week of June. I cannot wait for that. Then after that, just chill and work a lot this summer. Then get pumped and stoked for fall and start off fresh with no worries on my mind. Then after the 2010-2011 school year, I will apply for the athletic training program and then I feel that school will start to get fun from there.
Anyways, I just wanted to write all my feelings down and what better to do it than on a blog post.

I'm One Of Them!!!!
HAHA Now I can officially say that I am one of those people who reads the book before going to see the movie. I don't know why but the movie/book "The Last Song" caught my attention. I decided to purchase it and read it before the movie comes out. I started it this past sunday the 14th and finished it last night-- a week is pretty fast for Natalie to read a book. But it was a REALLY good book- it is written by Nicholas Sparks for those of you who don't know. I could really relate to the end of it from personal experience. ANyways, i can't say too much, you will have to read it or see the movie which comes out NEXT WEEK!!! Here is the trailor--

Oh the BYU Staff at State Swim Meet
Ok, before I get into my story, I just wanted to compare logos for a moment. UTAH vs BYU logo. Lauren and I get a a kick out of this Y logo. Its all crooked and scrapbooky looking. What do you think? Then compare it to the Utes logo.... it to me looks SOOO much more intimidating than that scrapbooky looking Y. I'm just sayin.
Ok ok, story time now. So every year at the state swim meet at BYU I always seem to have some sort of encounter with the weird staff there. This year was golden. Lauren and I go marchin into the place wearing our UTAH stuff. We go to the table and see the sign with the prices. It says students (K-12) get a dollar off the regular price. I being the poor college student ask a question... well the conversation goes like this....
ME: Do college kids count as students
BYU Person: No, only grades K-12
ME: But we are poor
BYU Person: sorry its grades K-12
ME: Its the shirt isn't it? (Pointing to my shirt)
BYU Person: Thats part of the reason
Lauren: Don't be prejudice against us
(Didn't catch what the BYU people said)\
Me walking away with lauren: Yeah and dont they teach us to love one another???

From there we just journeyed into the pool area... I think we left that little staff group speech less. But what can I say, Max Hall hates me anyways

Good Times
So this week we have kidnapped Grandma Stapley for the week. She is excited to get out of summit for a while. She has quite the week planned and she is so excited. Today she went out briefly with her sister. Tomorrow she is having an all day outing with her sisters-- shopping and lunch. Wednesday she is way excited for. Now my Grandma Stapley is a huge Jazz fan. She knows her Jazz players. She and my dad are going to the Jazz game Wednesday night verses the Lakers. Thursday there is nothing planned, and friday she is going to come with us to the state swim meet.
Now I just have to say, a while ago when my family went down to summit to help grandma clean some things up, my dad found some OLD pictures, Like old enough we had to have a carosel to shine up on the wall to look at the pics. Well it was soooo fun to sit with grandma and watch them. We did it for hours tonight and it was so fun to see my grandma to get excited.
Anyways random story

Nice Mellow Song (again)
I guess the first time I tried this it didn't work... so here it goes
Alright, I don't care what you all say about the Jonas Brothers or Disney Channel in general but I think this is a really nice song with a good meaning. It is Nick Jonas on his first solo album
