Should I trust BMI/Body fat % tests?

So for one of my classes, I got to go to a lab at school to have my Blood tested for all sorts of things and also checked my BMI and body Fat%. I don't know if I trust the test! It put me in a category that i don't agree with! WHat do you blog readers think? Should we trust the little machine telling us our BMI and %body fat? I am not satisfied with my results? What about Muscle Index? I just dont know...

As a health promotion major, I can tell you that BMI sucks! Not accurate at all! However, body fat percentage tests are fairly accurate if you are hydrated enough.

I've always heard that they are not at all accurate. I think you are beautiful. Trust ME, not the silly GADGET. :)

My BMI # (especially right now) tells me that I am morbidly obese.

I am overweight, but not morbidly obese. I don't weight 700 lbs, just about 50 more than I should (25 of which have been gained in the last 6 months. Thanks little baby).

I agree that BMI is stupid - look at us tall folks who just have to carry around more mass, or professional athletes - all of the players in the NFL must be morbidly obese too.

You're fine. You're cute. You're funny. You exercise and live a healthy life. that's the best any of us can do.

dude.
bmi stinky.

what did you use to find body fat percentage? was it a tanita scale like they use in hospitals?

those are cool. unless of course they tell you that you have 98% body fat then they're on crack. like the bmi-ers.

i think you are lovely so just THERE!

I say to heck with the BMI stuff. Nobody is built the same, so that anorexic produced index is junk. For me to get to the "healthy" level, I'd have to drop down to my college weight, then amputate my leg. Not really worth it.

I'd rather be fat & happy then gimped & "healthy" :)
